How do isotopes of a given element differ from one another?

They differ only by the number of neutrons they contain, this is the reason why they have different mes. Also it explains why when you look at the periodic table you notice strange numbers for mes, these are averages for all isotopes, synthetic elements as you might notice have a simple atomic m as they don't have isotopes and most of the time its an estimated value.
