God isn't a man, right?

So why do people treat it as such? God, (if it exists) would have no gender, and yet people have acted as if it was a male since the beginning. 'God the father', etc. Why are they allowed to get away with this? It's like a tacit acknowledgment that it's just something made up- by MEN. I've tried calling god 'she' or 'It'. Boy does that bother people! Can it really be a coincidence that the Judeo-Christian-Islamic (all derived from Abraham) religions all put God up as the Great Father in the Sky and also place men at the top of the totem pole, and admonish women to be silent and obedient, making them second-cl citizens!? And before anyone objects that modern, Protestant Christianity has moved away from that, just look at how long it took. It's a very recent development. It's hard not to conclude the whole thing's a crock.
