Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2. A question for all who have seen them.?

In Pirates: Curse of the Black Pearl. All who took part in the stealing of the Aztec gold became the living dead until every piece of the gold was returned. As we all know the curse was lifted at the end of the movie when Will Turner dropped the final coins with his blood on them and Jack shot Barbosa. My question is... in Pirates: Dead Mans Chest. Capt. Jack keeps shooting the monkey throughout the movie with his pistol and the monkey is still undead. Shouldn't the curse have been lifted on the monkey as well? Why is he still undead? Or should I just hush and wait for the 3rd to come out and then ask?
