What does Chillingworth think of himself?

I read the Scarlet Letter. I am trying to write this paper, but I didn't understand that book to well. I am just looking for a little help. I know he is mean, but wants his wife to love him and all... and that he his evil basically. Though does he think of himself almighty... I Just want a second opinion. PLEASE!?! Thank you.
