How much should i feed my cat?

I have a 11 month old kitten who is at the moment has 3 pouches of Felix and some dry crunchies throughout the day. I read that when they are 1 you should limit their food to 2 meals a day but also read somewhere else you should feed them 3 meals a day. Any ideas who is right? I feel my cat would be hungry with just 2 meals but dont want him to get fat either!
